Ten Traits of Effective Helpers

With Dr. Walt Rutherford

The term "helper" applies to the broad and diverse practice of the alleviation of suffering. Regardless of the name we call ourselves or how our professions may define us, we are in the business of helping. Join us for an evening of interactive discussion on the inner qualities of effective helpers and the ability to move in and out of the specific definitions or labels which define us professionally and personally, to an understanding that the essence of our endeavors is kindness and love.

Dr. Walt Rutherford is an Integrative Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, Buddhist teacher, Clinical Supervisor, Husband, Father, and Friend.  He has more and more relied on practical, common sense language to able to move in and out of theoretical orientations and roles. Addressing congressional committees and Vietnam vets, Dr. Rutherford's 1970s testimony and teaching defined today's recognition of PTSD as a diagnostic category.
