Shani Robins , Ph.D.
The Wisdom Therapy Institute (WTI) offers a model of psychotherapy and corporate consulting  that integrates the best practices of Western psychological science and eastern traditions. Wisdom Therapy integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices and the active cultivation of humility and applies that to individuals and groups in both clinical and organizational settings. In addition to his work as a clinician at WTI, Dr. Robins is also working with corporations like Yahoo!, Inc. and American Express in an effort to integrate aspects of Wisdom Therapy TM into corporate environments. Across multiple empirical outcome studies, Wisdom Therapy TM has been shown to be a practical and effective method in its efficacy in reducing anger, anxiety, stress, and depression, while simultaneously facilitating everyday problem solving, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, humility, empathy, compassion, gratitude, well-being, productivity, communi cation, relationships, and health. Shani completed his B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy with honors from UCLA in 1989, his M.A. and Ph.D. in Cognitive Experimental Psychology from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1996, a 2-year National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellowship at U.C. Irvine in 1999, and a second Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2002. He received his license in Clinical Psychology in 2002 (PSY#18795). He has been enamored with the concept of wisdom since early childhood. He's originally from Israel and speaks fondly of growing up within a society which he experienced as valuing wisdom very openly in everyday life. This early exposure to the idea of acting from a place of wisdom motivated his pursuit to understand and apply the cognitive, emotional, clinical, social, and developmental dimensions of wisdom into our actions in the world. His passion for uncovering the aspects of wisdom that can be taught throughout the life-span and be acquired sooner rather than later, led him to create Wisdom Therapy TM and the Wisdom Therapy TM Institute in Palo Alto, CA.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, and has been the recipient of a number of professional and academic honors. In his spare time, Dr. Robins entertains challenges on the racquetball court, as well as at chess or a game of GO. He als o rollerblades, enjoys salsa dancing, marathons, and watching sun rises.
